This month’s meeting will feature Daughters of the Samurai : a Journey from East to West and Back by Janice P. Nimura. This beautifully, cinematically written work focuses on a moment in 1871 when five young girls were sent by the Japanese government to the United States to learn Western ways and return to help nurture a new generation. Please feel free to join us. We ask that you read at least 200 pages of the book if you wish to participate in the discussion. You are welcome to bring any refreshments you like to enjoy (and possibly share). Questions? Please contact Kate at firstname.lastname@example.org or 201- 343-4169 ext. 36. You may pick up a copy of the book at the Johnson Public Library Circulation Desk.
